Sarah Genz – Board Director & Strategic Consultancy Lead, BOSCO Inc.
Sarah Genz serves as Board Director and Strategic Consultancy Lead for BOSCO Inc. She first connected with the organization during her time as a Program Manager with the Powerful Means Initiative at the University of Notre Dame, when she traveled to northern Uganda with Tom Marentette to visit the St. Bakhita Vocational Training Center (now a partner of BOSCO-Uganda). It was her first trip to Uganda and the African continent. Together they met many of Tom’s contacts on the journey north to Kalongo, and it was during this visit that she learned about BOSCO and Tom’s longstanding ties to both its Ugandan and U.S. iterations.
Sarah is the Program Manager for Strategic Peacebuilding at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Before joining the Kroc Institute, she served as a Program Manager at the Pulte Institute for Global Development, where she led a range of international development projects within the Entrepreneurship and Education division. Her portfolio included serving as Administrative Director for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders at Notre Dame, managing a collaborative project with higher education institutions in Algiers focused on mathematics and artificial intelligence, and acting as academic advisor for the social entrepreneurship and innovation minor in the Keough School of Global Affairs. Her work has centered on project management, event planning and coordination, and research and reporting.
She holds a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic and Psychology, also from Notre Dame. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate years, she was a student-athlete and two-time team captain for the varsity softball team.
As Strategic Consultancy Lead on the BOSCO Inc. Board of Directors, Sarah provides thoughtful partnership to other functional leads and offers operational and strategic guidance in alignment with the BOSCO-Uganda mission and vision. Her six-week stay in northern Uganda at the beginning of her career proved formative and deeply transformational. Serving on the board is her way of giving back the lessons she learned and remaining connected to the country and the broader field of international development. Sarah is based in South Bend, Indiana, and joined the BOSCO Inc. board in May 2026.
Her six-week stay in northern Uganda at the very beginning of her career was formative and deeply transformational for many reasons. She learned so much during this time – serving on the board is an opportunity to repay those lessons learned and stay connected to the country and international development mission more broadly.
